The origins and current state of mindfulness

~ Plum Village Monk × Zen Monk Issho Fujita @ Kayasanso, Hayama

満員御礼

Thirty years have passed since Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh's first and last retreat in Japan. For the first time, Plum Village monks visited the base of Zen monk Issho Fujita, who was his interpreter at the time and has a deep relationship with him through translating his books. This is a rare opportunity to experience the practices of both Fujita and the Plum Village monks and hear them talk about the origins of mindfulness and where they are now. We hope that by experiencing the origins of mindfulness at Kayayamaso in Hayama, surrounded by beautiful fresh greenery, and through this practice, each of you will be able to find your own true anchor.

There will also be a violin meditation by Sister Chai, a professional violinist.

Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

~The real home, "here and now"~

Sister Kinh Nhiem, who played a central role in the well-received meditation session at Kosei-in Temple during the Plum Village monks' tour of Japan in March last year, will be invited back to Kosei-in Temple to hold a Plum Village-style one-day meditation session. Sister Kinh Nhiem is a direct disciple of Thich Nhat Hanh and has served as his attendant for many years, having been in closer contact with his teachings than anyone else and deeply embodying his wisdom. With her cheerful personality and careful attention to detail, she creates a safe and secure space.

Practicing mindfulness deepens your awareness of the here and now and returns you to yourself. By doing so, you realize that your true home is in the here and now. Spending a day of mindfulness will be a good opportunity to regain your connection with the vibrant life force within you.

Kamakura Hiking Retreat

~ Walking around the mindful city of Kamakura ~

満員御礼

A walking retreat with the monks of Plum Village in the mountains of Kamakura.
Walking the old roads of Kamakura is a journey that calms the mind. Along the way, we will travel through the mountains enveloped in deep greenery with the monks of Plum Village. Their footsteps are as quiet as the whisper of the wind, and each step has the power to make you forget the hustle and bustle of this world. This journey with the monks is not just a hike. It is a mindful hike, a journey to calm the mind and communicate with nature. By surrendering ourselves to the nature of the ancient city of Kamakura and reflecting on its history, we will find inner peace. This journey to experience the mindful city of Kamakura is a rare opportunity to forget the busyness of everyday life and regain the serenity of the mind.
